Domonic Bedggood

Domonic Bedggood (diving) took a long break from the sport before returning in early 2022, the Brisbane diver’s third Commonwealth Games in Birmingham producing a bronze in 10m synchronised with Cassiel Rousseau. It was his third consecutive medal in the event, each time with a different partner. He also finished 5th in the mixed 3m synchronised with Anabelle Smith and 6th in 10m mixed synchronised with Melissa Wu. Domonic originally competed in gymnastics until he suffered a serious back injury when a high bar routine went wrong. He began diving when he was 16 and made his Commonwealth Games debut in 2014, claiming gold the men’s synchronised 10m platform with Matthew Mitcham. At the 2015 Worlds, he teamed with Melissa Wu to win bronze in the mixed 10m event. Bedggood qualified for his first Olympics in 2016, finishing 12th in the 10m platform. As a Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games ambassador he claimed gold on the 10m platform and bronze in both the 3m springboard synchro with Matthew Carter and 10m synchro with Declan Stacey. He is trained by Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallist Matt Helm.
