Why did you begin your sport?
My father played on the veterans circuit in Melbourne. My brother and I used to follow him and hit with each other during the competitions. The veterans also used to hit with us and give us pointers. One day we were discovered by the Victorian State Junior squad in which we then honed our skills.
What is your most memorable sporting achievement?
2007 Venezualan Junior Circuit Champion. This was my first overseas tournament on my own and was a lower seed in the tournament. It was an unbeleivable experience and to take the title home was just crazy
Who is your hero / idol, and why? Have you ever met them?
Roger Federer for the ease in which he plays tennis and Rafal Nadal for his fighting spirit. Every athlete can learn how to fight from Nadal. I have not met either of them
Who has been the most influential person or people in your career and why?
My father has been through my entire career with me, through the thick and thin. He does not say too much, but when he speaks, you listen. When I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome he made a massive effort to understand what I was going through. The amount of study he done was remarkable. Without him, I do not think I would have been able to continue playing table tennis.
What is your sporting ambition?
It is always a huge honor to wear the green and gold to represent my country. To do it in a Commonwealth Games will be a dream come true, especially in front of a home crowd. My ambition is to bring home a medal in Gold Coast.
