Commonwealth Games Australia President Sam Coffa AM JP today paid tribute to Ron Walker AC CBE.

Walker was Chairman of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.

Mr Coffa said that Walker was a great friend of the Commonwealth Games movement.

“There is no doubting that the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games were a huge success and in my view the greatest Commonwealth Games ever staged. A lot of that success and the wonderful legacy that remains is owed to the leading role played by Ron Walker.

“Ron had a wonderful passion and knowledge of how to host major events and just recently met with the Chairman and CEO of the Gold Coast 2018 Organising Committee to share some insights into hosting a successful Commonwealth Games,” Coffa said.

Commonwealth Games Australia extends it sympathies to Ron’s family and loved ones.
