Henry Frayne

Henry Frayne (athletics) competed in the men’s long jump at three Commonwealth Games where a career highlight was the silver medal at Gold Coast 2018 having jumped a personal best of 8.34m to qualify for the final.
Frayne, who left his hometown of Adelaide for Melbourne aged 16 to chase his athletics dreams before following coach Gary Bourne to Brisbane in 2010, also reached the final at three Olympic Games in London 2012 (9th), Rio 2016 (7th) and Tokyo 2020 (14th). He also competed in the triple jump in London.
Frayne’s 13-year career also included five world championships appearances (2011, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023) and a silver medal at the 2012 world indoor championships in Istanbul. He announced his retirement after missing selection for a fourth Olympic team in Paris in 2024.
Frayne has bachelor’s degrees in commerce and law from Deakin University and the Queensland University of Technology and now works as a solicitor. He is also a member of the World Athletics Athletes’ Commission.
His uncle is 1984 Los Angeles Olympian and Edinburgh 1986 Commonwealth Games competitor Bruce Frayne while his father Geoff Frayne was a multiple medallist at the Australian championships.
