Madison Fitzpatrick
Madison Fitzpatrick (hockey) was one of the most experienced players in the Hockeyroos squad in Birmingham in 2022 – she played her 100th international in the final pool match against Scotland – but surprisingly it was her first Commonwealth Games.
Maddy comes from a hockey family. Older sister Savannah Fitzpatrick played at GC2018, her father Scott played three games for Australia, her mother Margie played first division and siblings Callum and Kendra have played at state level. Scott and Margie even put a mini hockey pitch under the family home.
The versatile striker was part of the Queensland Scorchers premiership-winning side in the Australian Hockey league in 2013, 2015 and 2016. She and Savannah made their senior Hockeyroos debuts within six months of each other in 2015 and played l together in the Jillaroos under-21 team that won bronze at the Junior World Cup the following year. Maddy won a place as a reserve for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic squad but was elevated to a full member of the team alongside Savannah when the rules were changed due to COVID-19.
Maddy is studying psychology and business at Curtin University and wants to become a criminal psychologist.
