Willem Portier
Willem ‘Buddy’ Portier (swimming) swam for Australia at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games in 1970, finishing 4th in the 200m breaststroke and 4th in the 400m individual medley. But it was in retirement where Portier is most well known, becoming an elite coach and sports scientist at the Victorian Institute of Sport, and was a long-time Australian swim team selector.
