Kurt Fearnley

Kurt Fearnley AO (athletics) claimed gold medals in wheelchairs athletics events at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi in the 1500m T54 and four years later won a silver medal in the same event in Glasgow after fighting a virus in the days before the race. A winner of 13 Paralympic medals including three gold from the 2004 and 2008 Games in the marathon (2) and 5000m T54. Fearnley ended his international representative career with a win in the T54 wheelchair marathon on the streets of the Gold Coast before carrying the Australian flag on behalf of the team at the Closing Ceremony. in 2019, the Kurt Fearnley Scholarships were instituted to support rising young para-sport talent in NSW.
