Basketball was first included in the Commonwealth Games at the 2006 Games in Melbourne, Australia.
It made a return to the Commonwealth Games program at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast, Australia and will feature on the 2022 program as a 3×3 competition for both able body and para athletes.
The governing body for Basketball in Australia is Basketball Australia.
