Keely Small has been selected to represent Australia at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas this July.

Learn more about her…

NAME: Keely Small
STATE: ACT
SPORT: Athetics 800m

Keely Small’s talent was unearthed at a local Canberra fun run when she was just nine years old, seven years on and her journey as a sprinter is set to advance internationally.

Small ran a thrilling time of 2:01.46 and set a new Australian junior record over 800m in Canberra earlier this year, qualifying her for nomination into the Commonwealth Youth Games Australian team.

Prior to competing, Small admits to having a ritual that she believes influences her success.

“I follow my same warm-up routine before every race,” she says.

“I wear the same lucky socks and earrings.

“I do my hair the same and of course the nails have to be done.”

The sixteen-year-old is an exciting talent who draws her inspiration from Mo Farah and his ‘never give up’ attitude.

She’s one to watch.
