Abbey Caldwell
Abbey Caldwell (athletics) produced a breakthrough performance at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning bronze in the women’s 1500m in a world-class field. That form continued throughout 2023 – she won bronze anchoring Australia’s mixed 4x2km relay at the world athletics cross-country championships in Bathurst and had a great summer campaign in Europe, including reaching the semi-finals of both the 800m and 1500m at the Budapest world champs. A strong domestic 2024 season resulted in selection for the 800m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where she reached the semi-finals and was ranked 14th overall.
Coached by former England junior international Gavin Burren since she was 13, Caldwell first gained national selection for the Tampere 2018 World Junior Championships. She again wore green and gold at the 2019 world cross country championships before farewelling her junior career with an under-20 3000m win at the Zatopek:10 in 2021.
Off the track, Caldwell has a Bachelor of Health Sciences from Deakin University.
