Ernest Simon
Ernest ‘Ernie’ Simon (fencing) competed in the individual foil and epee events in Edinburgh in 1970, as well as in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. Winner of eight Australian titles, Simon won a silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, which replaced fencing when it was discontinued as a Commonwealth Games sport following the 1970 Games. Simon established the Melbourne Fencing Club in the late 1990’s.
