The two nations will face-off to be the eighth nation to compete for the inaugural Commonwealth Games Women’s T20 Cricket gold medal.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set for a winner-takes-all showdown to decide the final cricket berth at this year’s Commonwealth Games. 

Bangladesh thrashed Scotland by nine wickets today to move onto three wins from three at the qualifier being played at Kuala Lumpur’s Kinrara Academy Oval. 

Murshida Khatun hit an unbeaten 50 in the resounding win, which leaves Bangladesh level on points with Sri Lanka. 

Sri Lanka yesterday brushed aside the host nation in a 93-run victory. 

Harshitha Madavi starred with an unbeaten 62 off just 42 balls. 

Sri Lanka have the superior net run rate, so would advance should the game be rained off or result in a tie. 

All other teams have played all four of their matches, with Malaysia defeating Kenya by five wickets in today’s other encounter. 

Mas Elysa impressed with bat and ball, picking up two wickets for 19 runs before scoring 37 in the chase. 

Hosts England, world champions Australia, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Barbados and New Zealand are already assured of places at Birmingham 2022, where the women’s 20-over tournament will represent cricket’s second Commonwealth Games appearance and first since 1998.
