Lauren Parker has won her first overseas gold medal at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Paratriathlon World Cup event in France over night.

Parker trailed the leader by two minutes heading into the bike leg, before making her move over the mountainous course to gain a seven minute lead into the run and hold her position to surge home victorious.

Parker’s win in France follows her inspirational bronze medal performance at Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) just 12 months after a horrific training accident left her paralysed from the waist down.

The resilient 29-year-old is now already ‘looking forward’ to the next big challenge – Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

“I want to win gold in Tokyo,” she said.

Parker has now secured five podium finishes in her 18-month long career.
