EPISODE 27: Jake Birthwhistle

Five years ago Jake Birtwhistle the Tasmanian born runner made a bold move and transitioned to triathlon, it was a change worth making.

Last week, Birtwhistle was one of six triathletes named on Team Australia for Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The youthful triathlon team Charlotte McShane (27), Gillian Backhouse (26), Luke Willian (21), Ashleigh Gentle (26) and Matthew Hauser (19) will join Birtwhistle (22) on the start line on day one of competition in April.

Birtwhistle joined us on Gold Coast Gold to chat about the thrill of making the team, the transition from track and field and what it was like to meet his heroes; the late Kerryn McCann and Lee Troop.
