Delving into all things Commonwealth Games between now and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

We recap the week that was, chat to a Games star of the past, present or future and take a look at the week ahead for our Commonwealth Games aspirants.

EPISODE 31: Mariafe Artacho del Solar

Born in Lima, Peru beach volleyball star Mariafe Artacho del Solar relocated to Sydney Australia with her Mum 13 years ago.

You could be forgiven for assuming the move was a daunting one for the 11-year-old who spoke ‘zero english’ – but not for Artacho del Solar, she credits sport for making her transition ‘so easy’. For her, the real challenge was the move to Adelaide with the Australian Institute of Sport program, training full time as an athlete.

“I was very excited when I arrived in Australia… it was a challenge but I think sport helped me a lot to meet people and learn the language,” she said.

“I adapted very easily and very well, so it was the move to Adelaide that was more challenging”.

On this episode of Gold Coast Gold, Artacho del Solar chats about her on and off court partnership with fellow young gun Taliqua Clancy, having a hit of tennis with Pat Cash and her hopes of selection for Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
