Grant Harrison has made a significant contribution to Commonwealth Games Australia through his leadership, governance expertise and long-standing commitment to sport administration.
Grant’s involvement with Commonwealth Games Australia commenced in 2011 when he was appointed to the organisation’s former Board of Management. Following the introduction of the current Board structure, he was elected to the Board in 2018, re-elected in 2019 and again in 2024 for a second four-year term. In 2024, he was also elevated to the position of Vice President by his fellow Board Members.
Throughout his distinguished career in sport administration, Grant has held numerous leadership positions, including Vice President of Commonwealth Games Australia’s South Australian State Division, Director and Deputy Chair of Thoroughbred Racing South Australia, Independent Complaints Manager with Table Tennis Australia and Member of the South Australian Olympic Appeal Committee.
His contribution to gymnastics has been extensive, serving as Director and President of Gymnastics Australia, Vice President of the Commonwealth Gymnastics Confederation and President of Gymnastics South Australia. In recognition of his outstanding service to the sport, he was awarded Life Membership of Gymnastics Australia.
Grant has also played an important role in supporting Commonwealth Games Australia’s long-term financial sustainability through his service as a Director of the Australian Commonwealth Games Foundation Ltd, a member of Commonwealth Games Australia’s and the Foundation’s Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, and Chair of the Foundation’s Investment Committee.
Grant’s dedication to good governance, strategic leadership and the advancement of sport has made a lasting impact on Commonwealth Games Australia and the broader Australian sporting community.
