Abbey Caldwell

Abbey Caldwell (athletics) will travel from Mitcham to Birmingham to make her Commonwealth Games debut. Coached by Gavin Burren, Caldwell became Australia’s 8th fastest competitor of all time in 2022 aged 20. Qualifying for the 2018 Tampere World Junior Championships, Caldwell crossed the line in 4:24.65, before farewelling her junior career with an under-20 3000m win at 2021 Zatopek:10. Staking a 4:07.69 1500m PB and win at the 2021 Inkco Winter Series, there was little doubt that Caldwell would fare well in her inaugural senior summer season. In 2022, Caldwell has continued to cut time from her 1500m PB. Taking out the NSW Milers Series with a 4:04.79 personal best, Caldwell made space in the trophy room for an additional Australian 1500m title, Melbourne Track Classic first place and a new PB of 4:04.18 at her USATF Distance Classic win in Walnut, California. Off the track, Caldwell studies a Bachelor of Health Sciences.
