Alana King

Alana King (T20 cricket) was a surprise call-up to the Australian team over the 2021-22 summer but earned her debut cap in T20, Test and one-day international cricket in the space of just 14 days and has quickly become a fixture of the side and will make her Commonwealth Games debut at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The leg-break bowler originally played for Victoria and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League before making the move to Western Australia to seek out more game time. In January 2022, King was named in the Australian squad for the women’s Ashes. She made her T20 international debut on January 22 against England in Adelaide, her Test debut on January 27 and her one-day international debut on February 3. She was named in the full-time contract list by Cricket Australia following her wicket-taking efforts which were crucial to Australia’s Women’s World Cup winning campaign in New Zealand in March. King is of Anglo-Indian descent, both parents emigrated from Chennai to Melbourne.
