Alex Perkins
Alex Perkins (swimming) made her green and gold debut at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games where she reached the final of both the 50m and 100m butterfly. She also took home a gold medal for a heat swim in the mixed 4x100m medley.
The former Meriden State College student, who turned 22 just two days before the start of the Games, trains with USC Spartans on the Sunshine Coast under coach Mick Palfrey.
Her great aunt, Carol Bernoth, competed in high jump at the Vancouver 1954 Commonwealth Games and Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games.
