Alexandra Manly

Alexandra Manly (cycling) will feature in her second Commonwealth Games at Birmingham after she won gold in the team pursuit at the Anna Meares Velodrome four years ago. The West Australian sprinter will attempt to join Kathy Watt as the only Australian female rider to win gold on both the track and road at the Commonwealth Games. Born in Kalgoorlie, Manly’s talent was nurtured by the South Australian Institute of Sport who talent-spotted her when she was 14. Since 2015 she has switched between Australia’s endurance track program and the world road race tour. She won several Oceania and world junior titles on the track – and was a member of the squad that won the senior team pursuit crown – before claiming the points race at the 2019 world championships. She also claimed back-to-back national under-23 road race and time trials titles in 2017 and 2018.  After competing in the team pursuit at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 finishing fifth, Manly returned to Team BikeExchange-Jayco in 2022 and won the prestigious Thuringen Ladies Tour in Germany in May, including four stage victories.
