Amy Lawton

Amy Lawton (hockey) was one of the youngest players to be capped for the Hockeyroos when she made her debut in April 2019 aged 16.

Amy was born in England and moved to Australia with her parents and younger sister Josie – also a talented hockey player – in 2007 when she was 6. She began playing hockey with her local club Casey after seeing an advertisement in her school’s newsletter. She made her debut for Australia’s under-18 team in 2018, playing at the Oceania Youth Games and Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires (5-a-side hockey), before being elevated to the under-21 side later that same year.

The midfielder made her senior Hockeyroos debut against New Zealand in 2019 and her efforts were rewarded by being named the Australian Institute of Sport Emerging Athlete of the Year. She was the youngest member of the Australian squad at the Tokyo of 2020 Olympic Games.

Inspired by Australia’s Paralympians, Amy is studying for a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University.
