Aran Zalewski

PRINT PAGE

Aran Zalewski (hockey) has featured in the Kookaburras’ gold medal-winning sides at the Glasgow 2014, Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games serving as co-captain alongside Eddie Ockenden at the latter.

Known to his teammates as ‘Moose’ and recognisable by mop of messy blond hair, the West Australian native made his international debut in 2011 and his Olympic debut in Rio in 2016. Zalewski enjoyed a stellar year in 2019: he served as Kookaburras captain, was named best player of the FIH Pro League and was nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award.

When the national hockey programs were shut down during COVID, Aran returned to the family home at Margaret River for the first time since he left to go to boarding school at Aquinas College in Perth, re-joining the squad after lockdowns to claim Olympic silver in Tokyo.

The skilful and energetic midfielder has a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University and works part-time as a senior consultant with Deloitte in Perth.
