Ashley Callus

Ashley Callus OAM (swimming) is a five-time Commonwealth Games medallist, competing at four editions of the Games. Debuting at the Kuala Lumpur 1998 Commonwealth Games, Callus won gold as part of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team. He returned to win two gold medals as a member of the men’s 100m and 200m freestyle relay teams at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, while also winning individual silver in the 100m freestyle. His fourth career medal was silver as part of the 4x100m freestyle relay team in Melbourne in 2006. Callus famously won a gold medal in the 4×100m freestyle relay at the Sydney 2000 Olympics against the previously undefeated USA team in that event  the ‘smashed them like guitars’ race. Callus competed at three Olympics, winning a relay bronze at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
