Ben Austin

Ben Austin OAM (swimming) is one of Australia’s most decorated Para-swimmers and winner of three Commonwealth Games gold medals. Austin broke four world records at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, en route to winning gold medals in the multi-disability 50m and 100m freestyle events, returning home as the Australian athlete with the most world records broken at the Games. He would later go on to win the 100m freestyle S8 gold medal at the Delhi 2010 Games in his final Games. Winner of eight Paralympic medals, including three golds, from the Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Paralympics, Austin was named captain of the Australian swimming team at the Games in Beijing, China.
