Cameron McEntyre (athletics) finished seventh in the men’s javelin in his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, the only Australian competitor in the event.
The Wahroonga local and Knox Grammar School alumnus came into Birmingham in top form having won the Australian title and thrown a PB of 81.96m at the Oregon Relays earlier in the year, followed by a world championships debut in Eugene two weeks before the Games.
The following year, the Sydney Pacific Athletics Club representative made his second world championships appearance in Budapest before his strongest season yet in 2024 – winning a second national title and lowering his PB to 82.01m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Japan before making his Olympic debut in Paris.
McEntyre is coached by older brother Angus McEntyre, who also trains Mackenzie Little.
McEntyre graduated from Macquarie University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Human Sciences, majoring in Human Movement.
