Carl Healey

Carl Healey (lawn bowls) was part of the team that won silver in the men’s triples and was 11th in men’s fours at his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham in 2022. Healey, who had represented NSW since 2012, finally got the call-up to the Jackaroos national squad in January 2021 but it took nearly 18 months before he made his debut for Australia as international competition stopped because of COVID. Carl, who trained with teammate Ben Twist on specially prepared slow greens at Penrith Bowls Club to mirror the UK conditions, started playing lawn bowls in 2000 and his mother, father and a cousin have all played the sport. His first major breakthrough was winning the 2007 NSW pairs title. Since then, Healey has won eight NSW titles and was named the NSW Bowler of the Year in 2012.
