Charli Petrov
Charli Petrov (diving) created all manner of history at her Commonwealth Games debut In Birmingham: aged 14, she was the youngest athlete to don the green and gold on the 429-strong Australian team, the youngest diver from any nation at the Games and became the youngest Australian diver to win Commonwealth Games gold when she teamed up with Melissa Wu in the women’s 10m synchronised. In fact, Charli wasn’t even born when her partner burst onto the diving scene at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006 aged 13, the pair first competing together at the 2022 Australian Championships. The young Victorian was named Australian Junior C Diver of the Year and Most Outstanding New Talent in 2019 and has been on a high trajectory since then. She also made her world championships debut in Budapest just before the Birmingham Games.
