Charlotte Mcshane

Charlotte McShane (triathlon) finished 11th in the individual event at her second Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, matching her result on the Gold Coast four years earlier. Born in Scotland, Charlotte saw her father Frank compete at the 2001 Hawaii Ironman when she was 11 and she was hooked. For the following few years, she attended the Glasgow School of Sport and focused on running. After winning a number of Scottish junior titles, she started in long-distance events not long after arriving in Australia with her family in 2005, settling in Bairnsdale in Victoria’s Gippsland.  In 2010, she relocated to renowned coach Jamie Turner’s outfit in Wollongong and took up the sport full time, career highlights include winning the under-23 world title in 2013 and being a member of the Australian team that won a mixed relay gold medal at the world championships in Hamburg. After dividing her time between Wollongong and northern Spain, the pandemic confined Charlotte to competing in Australia in 2020 and 2021, with her trip to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as a reserve her first overseas in almost two years.
