Chelsea Hodges

A year after making her Olympic debut in Tokyo, Chelsea Hodges (swimming) competed at her first Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she won bronze medals in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke as well as gold in the women’s 4x100m medley.

Chelsea began swimming when she was six in the Queensland town of Biloela, then joined Sean Eels at Southport when the family moved to the Gold Coast two years later.

Overcoming hip surgery when she was 14, she represented Australia for the first time at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis, finishing 7th in the 50m breaststroke. The following year, she claimed silver in 50m breaststroke and 4x100m medley at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics.

Chelsea broke through for her first national titles in April 2021, claiming both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, then went on to win Olympic selection for Tokyo where she finished 9th in the 100m and claimed gold as part of the 4x100m medley relay.

She used her down time during COVID to continue her nursing studies at Griffith University.
