Christopher Mitrevski

Chris Mitrevski (athletics) finished ninth in the men’s long jump at his second Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, but he leapt so far behind the board that his 7.70m jump could have won the gold medal.
Mitrevski made his Commonwealth Games debut on the Gold Coast in 2018 where he placed sixth in the long jump but struggled with consistency and technical issues – he says he had “the yips” – over the next few years. After narrowly missing qualification for the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, he returned to form to regain the Australian title in 2022 and qualify for his first world championships in Eugene where he finished 16th in the qualification round. He went to his second world championships in Budapest in 2023 where he placed 13th, missing the final by just one centimetre.
Transitioning from long-time coach John Boas to Alex Stewart after his 2023 campaign, Mitrevski’s good form continued in 2024, toppling his personal best to 8.32m in winning his fifth national title in Adelaide and gaining selection for his Olympic debut in Paris where he finished 18th in the qualifying round.
Mitrevski works as a media analyst, having completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2018.
