Colin Ridgway

Colin Ridgway (athletics) represented Australia at the Cardiff 1958 Games in the men’s high jump. Ridgway competed for Australia at the Melbourne 1956 Olympics where he was the youngest high jumper at the Games, before going on to Cardiff in 1958 where he finished 12th in the competition. A talented sportsman, Ridgway played Australian Rules Football for Carlton under 19s team, before his athletics feats saw him earn a scholarship to Lamar University in Texas, in the United States of America. While in Texas, Colin’s football skills saw him signed by the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League as a punter but never made a regular season appearance. Sadly Colin Ridgway was murdered in his Texas home in 1993, in a police case that remains unsolved today.
