Damian Brown

Damien Brown (weightlifting) carried the Australian flag at the opening ceremony of the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. One of Australia’s greatest weightlifters, Brown competed at four Commonwealth Games and three Olympic Games. At the Commonwealth Games, Brown won four gold medals, a silver and three bronze between 1990 and 2002. At the Manchester Games, Brown snatched an absurd 147.5kg to win the gold medal in the 77kg weight class. Over the course of his career, Brown competed in 12 consecutive world weightlifting titles and represented Australia at the Barcelona, Atlanta and Sydney Olympics in the middleweight class.
