David Watson
David ‘Dave’ Watson (cycling) competed on both the track and road in the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. Riding in the 4000m individual pursuit where he finished 4th, after Watson was not being able to start in the bronze medal ride-off due to suffering a chest infection. Watson also competed in the road race at the same Games. Representing Australia at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, Watson turned professional after the 1970 games foregoing his amatuer status needed at the time to compete at the Commonwealth Games.
