
Edgard Coumi
Edgard Coumi (boxing) is making his Commonwealth Games debut at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Edgard is one of two South Australians on the Birmingham boxing roster and at just 26-year-old, is the oldest Team Member on the men’s boxing team for Birmingham. Claiming his place at Birmingham 2022 with three wins in the 92kg (heavyweight) division at the selection trials in February 2022. After being a runner-up in the 75kg novice division at the South Australian championships in 2013, Eddie has gradually moved up the rankings. He beat Daniel Stewart to claim the 81kg division at the 2018 Elite Australian Championships, however, he lost to Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Clay Waterman at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic selection trials in December 2019. The Adelaide-born and bred boxer works as a personal trainer at the Para Hills Amateur Boxing Club which is owned by his father and coach Charlie Coumi.
