Emily Bensted

Emily Bensted (wrestling) won Australia’s first female wrestling medal at the Commonwealth Games when she won a silver medal at the Delhi 2010 Games in the 55kg freestyle weight division. Hailing from Fitzroy, Victoria, Bensted was one of Australia’s first five female wrestlers at the Commonwealth Games when the women’s events were added to the 2010 sport programme. Coached by Australian wrestling legend Sam Parker, Bensted was described by Parker as having “a hell of a fighting spirit”. The Victorian is also an accomplished judoka fighter.
