Erika Yamasaki

Erika Yamasaki (weightlifting) is a three-time Commonwealth Games representative who won bronze in the women’s 48kg event at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. At the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, Yamasaki competed again in the 48kg category, snatching 73kgs, a then Oceania record, but unfortunately injured herself during the warm up for the clean and jerk lift, tearing an elbow ligament, so wasn’t able to secure a result. Yamasaki returned at the Glasgow 2014 Games, to compete in the 53kg division where she finished fourth. She is the first and only Australian female weightlifter to clean and jerk double body weight when she lifted 106kgs at the 2015 National Championships.
