Georgia Griffith (athletics) finished 4th in her heat of the women’s 800m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, missing the final despite running a season’s best. It was her second Games appearance following her debut on the Gold Coast four years earlier where she contested both the 800m and 1500m.
Just days after her 17th birthday, Georgia won the 2013 Australian All Schools Championship 800m. The following year she went to the World Junior Championships in Eugene where she placed 4th in the final.
Griffith has also competed in the 1500m at two Olympics. After battling injury and COVID interruptions, she placed 14th in her heat on her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021. Ahead of her second Games in 2024, she broke the 3000m national and Oceania records to notch up her maiden Diamond League victory in Oslo in May (8:24.20) before reaching the 1500m semi-final in Paris.
She has also contested three world championships, competing in both the 800m and 1500m at London 2017, reaching the semi-final of the 1500m at Doha 2019 and finishing ninth in the 1500m at Eugene in 2022, her best result.
Griffith has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Design (Communication) from Monash University.
