Georgia Wilson

Georgia Wilson (hockey) made her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, four years after a devastating knee injury prevented her from playing at the Gold Coast Games.

Georgia began playing hockey at Mahagony Creek in the Perth Hills when she was four. She made her Jillaroos (under 21) debut in 2016, and quickly made her way into the senior national team the following year where she was named Rechelle Hawkes Junior Player of the Year by Hockey WA. However, her hopes of playing at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast were scuttled in early 2018 when she suffered an ACL tear which kept her on the sidelines for over a year, undergoing a full knee reconstruction and a gruelling 14-month rehabilitation.  The midfielder was a late call-up to replace Penny Squibb in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic squad.

Georgia, the second eldest of four sisters, has a degree in Human Biology and Marketing from the University of Western Australia. She is also an ambassador for youth mental health organisation Zero2Hero and the founder of Activ8 Hockey which offers school holiday hockey camps.
