Gerrard Gosens
Gerrard Gosens OAM (triathlon) will be making his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, adding another chapter to his incredible story. Gosens will compete in the PTVI vision impaired event in Birmingham, with his guide Hayden Armstrong. Congenitally blind from birth, Gosens hasn’t let his vision impairment stop him from living an outstanding life. A three-time Paralympian, competing at the Atlanta 1996 in goalball, Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 Games in athletics, Gerrard has also climbed Mount Everest, a reknowned chocolatier, ran the 2000km from Cairns to Brisbane five times as well as wooing audiences on Channel 7’s Dancing with the Stars. Gosens encourages others with the saying, “Every one of us have some sort of obstacle to overcome, instead of letting them getting in the way, we should learn to take advantage of any opportunities we come across”.
