Hannah Dodd

Hannah Dodd (3×3 basketball) was Australia’s leading point scorer in the final of the inaugural Commonwealth Games women’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball tournament, gaining silver as her first international medal. Dodd, a dual sport Paralympian who suffers from sacral agenesis with upper limb dystopia, joined her first Pony Club aged 4 and became the youngest Australian equestrian team member at London 2012 Paralympic Games. Whilst cheering on their daughter in London, Dodd’s parents were approached by Gliders’ coach Gerry Hewson and the transition from horses to halfcourt basketball began. Joining her first basketball team in 2012, Dodd signed with the Sydney Uni Flames ahead of the 2013 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League season. In 2016, the Sippy Downs-based athlete also committed to the Wollongong Roller Hawks, who contest the Men’s National Wheelchair Basketball League. Named in the 2014 Australian Gliders extended squad, Dodd made her Australian debut at the 2015 Osaka Cup. Officially opting to pursue basketball over equestrian due to the sport’s strong team focus, Dodd made her 5×5 basketball Paralympic Games debut at Tokyo 2020, her second Paralympic Games in nine years. Outside of sport, Dodd has a bachelor’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
