Herb Turner
Herb Turner (rowing) won the gold medal in the single sculls event at the Sydney 1938 British Empire Games. Hailing from Croydon, New South Wales, Herb was a four-time national champion in the single sculls event. However despite being the national champion in 1935, Turner was defeated by Commonwealth Games teammate Cecil Pearce in the 1936 Olympic selection trials. Turner competed at the Berlin 1936 Olympics in the double sculls with Bill Dixon where the duo finished fourth.
