Herbert Bascombe

Herbert Bascombe (athletics) represented Australia at the first Empire Games in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada. Described by Australian newspapers as “the greatest quarter-mile runner ever produced in Victoria” in the lead-up to the Games, Bascombe competed in the 440-yard event finishing sixth and in the 880-yard event finishing fifth.
