Jacob Anderson

Jacob Anderson (hockey) bounced back from the disappointment of narrowly missing selection for the Tokyo Olympics to make his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham.

The son of a teacher (mum) and a mining superintendent (dad), ‘Boccy’ first represented Queensland at under-13 level and took to the field in green and gold for the first time with the Australian under-21 side at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia in November 2017. The lightning-quick forward made his Kookaburras debut against Argentina at the Darwin International Hockey Open the following September before being elevated to the Kookaburras squad for 2019. The Mackay export’s other career highlights including winning the 2018 Australian Hockey League title with the Brisbane Blades as well as scoring a hat-trick in the semi-final win against Great Britain on the way to winning gold in the inaugural FIH Pro League in the Netherlands in 2019. He narrowly missed out on selection in the Tokyo Olympic team.

Jacob has a degree in Exercise Science and Business from the Australian Catholic University in Perth. The aspiring scratch golfer established Trilogy Performance Coaching after graduating in 2022 which focuses on strength and conditioning, nutrition and injury prevention for aspiring athletes.
