Jarrod Bannister
Jarrod Bannister (athletics) won the javelin gold medal at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. A five-time national champion, Bannister represented Australia at the Melbourne 2006 Games, and at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. His gold medal victory at the Dehli Games, saw Bannister join Perth 1962 gold medallist Alf Mitchell as Australia’s only male javelin winners in Commonwealth Games history. Sadly, Bannister was found dead in his home in the Netherlands in 2018, at just 33-years-old.
