Jess Turnbull

Jess Turnbull (squash) was one of three debutants on the eight-member squash team at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she lost in the round of 16 in both the women’s singles and the women’s doubles with Alex Haydon. Jess and Alex then went on to win the Plate final. Jess started on the world tour in 2013, the same year that she claimed the Australian junior singles title. Although she entered the world’s top 100 soon after, she didn’t win her first PSA title until 2018, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Golden Open. The following year, Turnbull claimed three more titles in Australia. She lost the Australian Open final in February 2021 to Rachael Grinham, before winning the North Coast Open and Thompson Auckland Open later in the year. Jess, who is coached by her brother Nathan Turnbull, reached a career-high world ranking of 64 in 2020.
