Jesse Wagstaff
Jesse Wagstaff (3×3 basketball) was part of Australia’s first Commonwealth Games men’s 3×3 side that went down in a one-point thriller to host nation England in the final in Birmingham. The loss ended Wagstaff’s hopes of claiming back-to-back golds in different basketball disciplines after he was a part of the Boomers team that triumphed on the Gold Coast in 2018. Making his collegiate debut with the Metro State Roadrunners in Minnesota, USA, Wagstaff joined the Perth Wildcats in 2009. Winning a championship and NBL Rookie of the Year, Wagstaff’s trophy cabinet accumulated all kinds of silverware over the next 12 seasons. The first NBL player to play in nine grand final series, the Wildcats captain became a six-time NBL champion and 400-gamer in 2021. His current contract expires at the end of 2023. Taking to the 3×3 tournament format for the first time in 2022, Wagstaff returned from the FIBA Asian Cup in Singapore with a gold medal and Most Valuable Player accolades off the back of his tournament-high 8.4 points per game.
