Johan Durst

Johan Durst (hockey) was Australia’s substitute goalkeeper behind Andrew Charter at his first Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.

Johan has been a goalkeeper ever since he began playing hockey aged 14. He starred for the Victoria Vikings in the 2017 Australian Hockey League, impressing in the grand-final shootout over the Queensland Blades and winning the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award. He was elevated to the national senior men’s squad in May 2018 after helping the Vikings to a second consecutive title, made his international debut against Germany just a month later and followed with the Champions Trophy which Australia went on to win.

Johan has a degree in music performance from the Victorian College of the Arts, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce and diploma in Indonesian language from Deakin University.
