Joshua Azzopardi

Josh Azzopardi (athletics) is a Camden local who will be all guns blazing at his debut Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where he will be part of the men’s 4x100m relay squad. Having claimed a PB during the Oceania Athletics Championships in Mackay in June – taking home a bronze medal for his 10.27 100m effort – Azzopardi has found his stride in recent months. The former under-20 OzTag Australian representative recorded his best Australian championships performance in April 2022, walking away with a silver medal in the 100m (10.20) and fourth place for his 21.08 200m effort. First representing Australia in 2018, Azzopardi trains under former 100m sprinter Rob Marks of the Project Elite Track Squad. Training up to two hours a day, six days per week, Azzopardi’s schedule features a variety of track sessions plus stairs and hills conditioning, strength and Pilates. Outside of athletics, Azzopardi studies a Diploma in Applied Fitness at the Australian College of Physical Education.
