Ky Robinson

PRINT PAGE

Ky Robinson (athletics) produced a personal best performance of 27:44.33 to finish sixth in a red-hot men’s 10,000m field at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, moving the young Queenslander into the top 10 on the national all-time list. It came just a fortnight after he finished 19th in the 5000m at the world championships in Eugene, his first senior international meet.

The Brisbane Church of England Grammar School alumnus didn’t take athletics seriously until he was 16, refusing pleas from his school’s director of cross country to join the team. After winning under-18 state titles in the 1500m, 3000m and 2000m steeplechase, he carved out a successful career at Stanford University where he claimed the 5000m/10,000m double at the NCAA championships in 2023 and was a 13-time All-American.

In the meantime, he continued to represent Australia at international level, including the 2023 world cross country championships in Bathurst.

Graduating from Stanford in 2024, Ky now trains out of Boulder, Colorado with the On Athletics Club. In March 2025, he claimed bronze in the men’s 3000m at the world indoor championships in Nanjing, his maiden global medal.
