Kyle Bruce

Kyle Bruce (weightlifting) dedicated his silver medal in the men’s 81kg on his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham to his late father who died in 2015. It appeared that Kyle had won gold in a new Commonwealth record with a final clean and jerk lift of 183kg that was given the all-clear by all three judges, but officials judged that his arms did not fully extend after a video review. Kyle also claimed silver at the 2021 Commonwealth Championships in Tashkent which were decided based on the results from the World Championships where he was 15th overall. Kyle owns the Uplift Weightlifting Gym in Sydney where he is head coach alongside Isabel Lorenzi. Isabel finished 11th in the women’s 76kg at the 2021 World Championships in Tashkent. Bruce set all three of his 81kg PBs in clean & jerk (182kg), snatch (149kg) and total (331kg) in October 2021.
